- Raffia yarn in pink (200g) and red (50g)
- DK yarn in green, white, pink and red (all under 100g)

Fits most adult heads as the pattern is based on my existing summer hat from H&M. For a wider hat, continue increasing in the same fashion as rows 2-12, for a smaller hat, stop increasing sooner and skip to row 13.

Strawberry appliqués
With 4 mm hook:
I made 32, but make as many as you feel your hat requires.
In pink:
Round 1: 12 dc in MR, join to first st with sl st, ch 1, do not turn (12)
Round 2: 3 dc in next st, 2 hdc, 2 sc, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc, 2 hdc, 3dc in next st, sl st to last st of round 1 (17)
Finish off.
In green
Join with a sl st at st #15 of round 2. Ch 1, sc in next 2 sts, ch 4, starting from the second ch from the hook, sl st 3 in each chain, sc in first st of round 2 of the strawberry, sc in the second st of round 2, then sl st in 3rd st of round 2.
Finish off and weave in ends.
I used fabric glue to attach the strawberries to the hat, but you can use whichever method you prefer.

Bow
With 4.5 mm hook:
Ch 56, join to first ch to form a loop (careful not to twist it!), ch 1
In green:
Rows 1-2: hdc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to white:
Rows 3-4: hdc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to pink:
Row 5: sc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to white:
Row 6: ch 1, hdc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to green:
Rows 7-8: ch 1, hdc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to white:
Row 9: ch 1, hdc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to pink:
Row 10: ch 1, sc around, join to first st with slst, ch 1, turn (56)
Switch to white:

To cinch the middle, take a piece of yarn and work a running stitch up the middle through both layers, squeeze the ribbon into shape and then tie the beginning and end of the yarn in the running stitch together firmly.
Strawberry
With 4 mm hook:
In red:
Round 1: 5 sc in MR (5)
Round 2: inc around (10)
Round 3: sc around (10)
Round 4: (sc, inc) around (15)
Round 5: sc around (15)
Round 6: (2 sc, inc) around (20)
Round 7: sc around (20)
Round 8: (3 sc, inc) around (25)
Rounds 9-11: Sc around (25)
Round 12: (3 sc, dec) around (20)
Begin stuffing the strawberry.
Round 13: (2 sc, dec) around (15)
Round 14: (sc, dec) around (10)
Round 15: dec around (5)
Sew closed and finish off.
With white yarn, embroider on some seeds.
To make the stem, with 3.5 mm hook, in green:
Round 1: 5 sc in MR (5)
Round 2: inc around (10)
Round 3: Ch 5, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chains, sl st in next st. Repeat around 10 times. Finish off, leaving long tail for sewing and attach to the top of the strawberry.
Assembly
Attach the strawberry to the middle of the bow, then attach the bow to the hat off-centre to the left (as you wear it).
