After qualifying for the NCC at Midgard 2023, I represented Iceland at the NCC Finals at NärCon Summer 2024 in Linköping, Sweden.

I qualified with my Anna F1 traveling cosplay and enhanced it a bit before the NCC, including revamping the wig with a new base from Once Upon A Wig Boutique, remaking the mittens in a more screen-accurate colour and crocheting a fish and a kranskaka to have as stage props.

My time at NärCon

I arrived on Wednesday 24th and as soon as I arrived in Linköping, I went to my prerecorded interview. I shared the drive with Team France who were the first to adopt me, as I was the only team with no assistants.

On Thursday, I went to NärCon and saw the sights. I ate breakfast with team Norway who also adopted me and looked out for me the rest of the weekend.

The grand final was on Saturday. The day was so full but it was so much fun. I was also adopted by Team Latvia and Denmark and I had the time of my life on the main stage. I made so many wonderful friends, and I can’t wait to compete again.

My performance

How did I put together this performance?

The song I used is an outtake from Frozen 2 called “Home” and was intended to be the opening/”I want” song in Frozen 2 (but was replaced by “Some things never change”). I love this song for 2 reasons – firstly, it showcases Anna’s character so well, and sets her up much better for becoming queen at the end of the movie, but most importantly, it perfectly sums up exactly how I feel about my new home in Iceland.

It is also a very lively song and the audience was clapping along to it from the start. It was so much fun to run around the stage and have crocheted fish thrown at me!
